Groovin’ Thoughts – Seven Step's to Becoming a Halloween Rock Star

Halloween and getting fit usually don’t go hand in hand. So I thought I would change that by introducing this seven step plan. It requires a bit of effort but since it starts today and ends on Halloween, you only have to commit yourself to it for fifteen days. Before jumping in, read through the steps and decide whether or not it’s worth it. You may want to make up your own version. If you're going to put in the effort you might as well have a purpose.

1. Set a goal this Halloween to dress up as a slim and trim '70s rock star.

2. For your costume, find the tightest fitting outfit you have on hand. I'm talking something that barely fits. Before today is over, squeeze into it (come-on you can do it, suck it in). How does that feel? Too tight? Good...that's what you'll be wearing on Halloween night.

3. Now for the part that requires effort. For the next two weeks, delete 90 minutes a day of ‘spare time’ from your life. This can include watching TV, reading the newspaper, commuting or spending time on social networks. Up to you.

4. Spend those 90 minutes doing this instead:

  • Exercise for thirty minutes.

  • Take thirty or forty minutes to cook a homemade meal using health conscious ingredients (nothing complicated).

  • Better yet, cook your meal while having some fun grooving to your favorite '70s rock tunes.

  • Take fifteen minutes to unwind and enjoy your delicious culinary creation.

  • Spend five minutes planning your meals for the next day.

5. Don’t purchase or eat any pre-packaged ready-made meals or take-out food.

6. One day per week indulge like a rock star (nothing excessive though). Ignore step 5 on this day if you like.

7. On Halloween night put on the same tight outfit you tried on a couple weeks ago.

If you somehow pulled this off, then two weeks from now you'd be able to fit easily into your costume that was once overly tight. You'd also be much fitter, more confident, a little richer, highly motivated and one heck of a cook! Others would notice.

Of course, it’s entirely possible my plan won't be sufficient, and you'll need to squeeze in some more effort. But it's a lot more likely you'll be much closer to making it fit, I bet-ya!
