The weather for the next few days looks like it’s going to be downright balmy here in Oakville.
I’m talking 11 degrees Celsius (52 Fahrenheit). That’s crazy warm for these parts in January. It’s giving me visions of last year’s winter that never was.
After this brief warm smell (unfortunately with rain) it looks like old man winter is coming back "big time" so I’m going to soak up the warm vibes (rain or no rain) while they stick around!
One of my favorite treats on a hot summer day is an Orange Creamsicle! This milkshake version is acting as my January meltdown substitute!
I reduced the fat in it (for those New Year’s resolutions that are still alive and well) by substituting in low-fat yogurt for a portion of the vanilla ice cream.
The real self-discipline comes in when you add the final scoop of ice cream on top. When the ice cream mixes with the milkshake it tastes so much like an Orange Creamsicle!

Somehow I managed to stick with one scoop on top…I doubt I’ll be as disciplined next time!
In my freezer...
I keep a container of frozen orange juice concentrate for marinades, smoothies, and now, Creamsicle milkshakes!
